Cogin
Speculative Product Design · Design Fiction · 3D Modeling & Fabrication · Sweden 2023
Cogin is a speculative design project that explores human–AI relationships in a near-future scenario where artificial intelligence has developed sentience and human-to-human communication has become increasingly rare.
The project uses design fiction as a method to make an imagined future tangible and discussable. Cogin is presented as a thought-based communication helmet, designed to enable meaningful interaction in a world mediated by AI. Rather than predicting the future, the project asks critical questions about dependency, intimacy and agency in technologically mediated communication.
The design process moved from concept development and scenario building to digital modeling in SolidWorks, followed by full-scale fabrication. Producing the object at 1:1 scale through 3D printing was central to the project, allowing the speculative concept to be experienced spatially and physically rather than remaining theoretical.
